最近看了一篇文章，里面提到如果中美开战，你会站在哪一边？
这个问题对很多在美居住的华人来说不是那么容易回答的：你说站在中国一边，人家说你是身在曹营心在汉； 你说站在美方，有人说你是叛徒。其实这是个很容易回答的问题，尤其在居住在美国，你有言论自由，选择自由的权利，不管你选择哪一方，你有宪法保障的权利，没人能够干涉你的人权。
记得有人提到签证官，移民官往往会提到这个问题，故意刁难对方。但是我从来没有看到真正的例子。我入籍的时候，移民局的官员在最后一个步骤时让我写下她说的一句话，那句话我至今还记得很清楚：“没有移民就没有美国。” 第一代移民总是跟自己出生的国家有一种特殊的关系，不管他们是出于什么原因移民，这种关系在他们的第二，三代后将会大大减弱，甚至消失。居住在唐人街里的华侨也许能够保留好几代人，新移民，尤其是出来留学的几乎在第二代就不大存在了。
我不知道是谁最早提出这样的问题。在中国，凡是涉及到政治的问题，答案必须是黑白分明的，必须跟党中央一致，否则你会自找麻烦，生存都会有问题。中美要是开战，有几个敢站出来公开声明自己站在美国一边？不相信的话，试把自己放在50年代的朝鲜战争。
在美国，你完全可以自由表达你对战争的看法，没人能对你怎样。你完全可以反对越战，伊拉克，阿富汗战争，那是美国宪法给你的权利，你完全可以自由发挥，甚至上街游行，抗议，也没见到有谁受到迫害。
我反对一切战争。中美要是开战，我要根据开战的理由去判断到底需要站在哪一边，如果法律需要，我将会毫不犹豫地拿起武器保护自己的国家，美国！
